Two in the Mirror

“Down the Rabbit Hole” at MO Museum, Vilnius. Curated by Roots to Routes: Justė Kostikovaitė, Maija Rudovska, Merilin Talumaa.

“Laura Põld’s installation Two in the Mirror (2023–2024) comprises three ceramic sculptures, featuring a central mirror-like form. Positioned on either side of the mirror are two intricately crafted entities: an enigmatic creature and a fragment of wild brambles, each seemingly drawn towards the other. This sculptural ensemble rests upon a meticulously hand-tufted carpet. The mirror, historically imbued with mystical significance and revered as a symbol of truth, serves as a focal point within the installation. Across various cultures and belief systems, the mirror has symbolized a gateway between the mortal realm and the metaphysical, adding layers of symbolism to Põld’s evocative creation.” – Merilin Talumaa
